How To Wear Stripes

Right up there with blue jeans and button downs, stripes are a style staple! They are a go-to of mine for many reasons such as their versatility and body-flattering characteristics.
Although, I sometimes find them to be a challenge to wear. Stripes can be a tricky print to pull off, their bold nature that could look unflattering if worn or styled improperly. So in anticipation for stripes being on of Summer’s most popular prints, I wanted to share some tips on how to rock a standout look in this print.

Go Vertical!

Vertical stripes can create an optical illusion of sorts making you look taller and slimmer! Compared to horizontal stripes, this style can make your figure more elongated, not to mention flattering. Try shopping for this more appealing option to feel more confident wearing stripes.

Balance Proportions

This is a must when wearing any style of stripes! Balance is a technique I rely heavily on when putting together an outfit. I would never want my look to be disproportionate, especially when you are wearing an audacious striped piece. For example, if you wear a striped top that is flowy, pair it with pants that are more fitted.

Mix Stripes

My favorite! Stripes on stripes are where it’s at! This tip requires you to get creative with layering. You can match the stripes or wear mismatched ones. The possibilities are endless, just keep experimenting until you find textures, colors, and sizes of stripes that look good together.
