Comeback of the Aloha Shirt

Aloha, Friends! Hope everyone is having a beautiful August! I’ve been spending the last few weeks of Summer walking everywhere in the city, traveling to the Hamptons on the weekends, and of course, rocking my Aloha shirt any chance I get. The bold floral top which used to feel cheesy is now springing up as cool! Even some of the industries most respected labels included them in their collections.

Originating in Hawaii in 1935, the Aloha shirt spread from the Pacific to the Americas through films like Blue Hawaii with Elvis rocking the printed top. Whether you are a retiree down in Florida or a male model strutting down the Louis Vuitton runway- the Hawaiian shirt has become the sartorial symbol of fun. The so-bad-it’s-good vaca shirt is definitely a thing to wear during the warmer months!

To pull off the Aloha shirt, finding the right floral print is key! It took me quite some time to discover the one I am wearing; I spent hours scouring vintage clothing on sites like Asos Marketplace and eBay before coming across this one on Etsy. I knew that I wanted a darker print with a unique floral design, so coming across one with pin-up ladies on banana leaves felt too cool. I’ve worn this shirt everywhere from the beach to work; I love having a wardrobe piece that promotes some fun in the sun!
