Tartan is Trending

Fashion weeks have always been a time to gain inspiration and learn about trends for the next season. But with designers transitioning to the see-now buy-now model, collections are becoming available immediately. I like the idea of a customer being able to wear things right away, it is more practical and helps with seasonality issues. With that said, here is one of my favorite trends seen on the runways for next Fall that you can wear now, the tartan print.

The tartan print is a subtle spin on the classic plaid. It is a design of small & large checks crisscrossing in an irregular pattern usually made in granite grays. The pattern became very popular during the ’80s era of power dressing, a time when fashion style enabled women to establish authority in a professional environment usually dominated by men. A standout motif of the season, the tartan print signifies much more than a fashion trend.

Speaking of men. Lately, I have been in the mood to wear masculine inspired silhouettes, especially suiting. For a seasonless look, go for a tartan printed blazer paired with trousers; these slit-front trousers are from Tobi, an LA-based e-tailer that I love (P.S. This brand has the coolest items inspired by the beachy coast to the heart of downtown). It is all about making a menswear-inspired outfit sexy. So here’s to chasing your dreams in the chicest menswear blazer you own!
