80s Fashion

In this look, I am channeling the 1980s style icons who wore a surplus of vintage and secondhand pieces. For quite some time, 80s fashion was made fun of, but in all actuality, a lot of really cool stuff happened. The decade birthed bold personal style inspired from the strong points of view in fashion, music, and popular culture at that time. Think David Bowie and Madonna holding court at the limelight. Now, this spirit is coming back to fashion in the form of scrunchies and biker jackets!

Truth be told, the last time I wore a scrunchie was when I was 5 years old… I had just about every color that I rotated in ballet class every week. Never did I think it would be resurrected, but here I am wearing this damn cute hair accessory again. The only thing that has changed about the scrunchie is how to wear and style it: I wore my maroon velvet one here tied up in my half bun tightly pulled back with my hair waved at the bottom. Scrunchies are a simple and easy way to add a pop of color to your look.

As for my biker jacket, it is an authentic Harley Davidson one, straight from the 80s. I wear this thing everywhere, because its tough leather makes it super warm, even for the wintertime. The bold belt at the waistline is a signature biker jacket accent, so if you are ever looking to buy one definitely make sure it has this detailing. The 80s fashion spirit will always be remembered for its daring looks. With that being said, the opportunity is now yours to be courageous in your personal style. Go big or go home.
