Velvet is a textile that you indulge in: it has a smooth and soft nature that makes it the most luscious of them all. Dating back to ancient times, velvet has developed a rich history associated with nobility. The velvet trend this season has aligned perfectly with the carefree 70s vibe. Velvet textiles appeared on multiple runways from Givenchy to Valentino and now you can find them in almost every store. Since everything is covered in velvet, it is difficult not to participate in one of the hottest trends of the season.
Personally, I can’t get enough of it. The newest additions to my closet have been all things velvet. Due to its heavier weight, a velvet silhouette always hangs elegantly on the figure, one of the main reasons I am drawn to it. I found this velvet dress at Forever 21, which by the way has a ton of options in velvet. I recommend buying it in deeper colors, velvet looks amazing in darker hues. It also mixes nicely with other textures, creating a rich ensemble that can be worn for both evening and night.
A micro-trend that I have also been wearing is this skinny scarf. I paired it with my velvet dress specifically because of how well the two velvet textures mesh together. Although this skinny scarf is more ornamental than functional, it adds a really nice touch to the outfit. Wrapping it around my neck in the form of a choker was enough of an accessory that I ended up opting out my jewelry. If you haven’t already, buy some velvet this season. I guarantee that you will enjoy wearing it just as much as touching it. Stay tuned for some more looks in this lush textile!
