If you told me a year ago I’d be living in NYC, pursuing my passions, and have met so many amazing people along the way, I wouldn’t have believed you. When I graduated college in Summer 2015, I had a hard time transitioning to the “real world,” because there was so much uncertainty in both my personal and professional life. I was put in many high-pressure and taxing situations, which I’ll share at a different time, that I often lost track of the woman I wanted to be.
It wasn’t until time passed by and lessons were learned that I developed a thicker skin. The truth is my life isn’t always as glamorous as these pictures and New Years Eve look may reveal. Behind all of my personal style is a 23-year-old girl juggling multiple jobs, some she doesn’t even like, to afford chasing her dreams. These are the sacrifices that can be grueling at times, but I know will make me a better creative in the end. Instead of dwelling over the hardships like before, I know embrace them and let life take its course.
I want to use this moment to encourage you all in trusting the magic of new beginnings. 2017 isn’t about the newest platform bootie, it is about wearing the confidence to continue forward, despite trials and tribulations. Now is the time to keep your head up, trusting life’s movement and change, knowing that the best is yet to come. Cheers, my friends, to a year filled with sparkle and excitement!
