September is the January of fashion. A time when Fall/Winter trends start showing up on the streets, magazines print their biggest issues, and fashion weeks in NY, London, Paris, and Milan kick off. This month is traditionally known for its fresh starts and new beginnings. Big changes and events are already underway: NY Fashion Week has moved its base from Lincoln Center to downtown Manhattan and Givenchy moved its show from Paris to NY! On September 11th, Givenchy’s designer Riccardo Tisci showcased a beautiful love themed fashion show in collaboration with artist Marina Abramovic who created a breathtaking set in the financial district with views of the Freedom Tower.
It’s an exciting season where we must embrace changes, especially those from mother nature. What I am looking forward to the most is colder weather. I can’t wait for more opportunities to wear a jacket like this and participate in the “suede takeover” that is going on right now. The other day I was online shopping and even found a laser cut bralette in this leather finish. Currently, the time has me drawn to silhouettes that are minimal and clean. I invested in this pair of chinos from Aritzia specifically because I think their patchwork detail reinvented the pant. I also love rustic hues for fall, the warmer the color, the better. This is actually my first pair of mirror shades, a trend I was iffy about buying into at first, but these red lenses worked well once they were monochromatically paired with the jacket.
Now that the New Year in fashion has started, what are your resolutions? Stay tuned for some more of mine in the coming weeks!
