My yearning to escape the city and travel somewhere beautiful led me to the sunshine promised land known as Montauk. Located at the very tip of Long Island, Montauk is a three-hour road trip from Manhattan. After recruiting my friend Kenny, someone who shares the same love of adventure, we headed out East for a weekend getaway. Our plan was to go before the overcrowded season commenced in order to experience the authenticity of this fashionable haven yet scenic place.
One of the first things that came to mind whilst planning the trip was, ‘ what clothes am I going to bring?’ Road trips require a unique packing list because you want to make sure your outfits are functional for the journey and the destination. I packed for the trip by organizing it into three main parts: driving to and from Montauk, walking the beaches, and exploring local shops and restaurants. Urban Outfitters was my go-to shopping spot for this trip. They always have an ideal selection for adventures in the sun.
Once we beat the city traffic, the drive to Montauk was pretty easy going and brimming with natural landscapes. Some of my favorite stops along the way were Ditch Plains, a beach notorious for its surf and picturesque cliffs, and The Surf Lodge for sunset drinks. Montauk served as the perfect destination for our eagerness to spend a little time away from the concrete jungle. The motive for this Summer is to continue exploring and collecting moments, with good company of course!
