By this point in the season, I am sure you all have seen a fair share of camel colored coats. I personally waited to buy one because I was looking to find the perfect fit. Believe it or not, what inspired me to purchase a camel coat was my boyfriend. About a year ago, before I even considered something in this color, he bought a longline camel overcoat from ASOS. Keep in mind he is one of those guys who looks trendy without even trying, and I can’t help but envy him for that. In my head, I thought ‘what an insanely good looking coat, I wonder if they make something similar for women.’ And of course, now there are more camel coats available than I could have imagined.
A coat can have so many fits, which is why I had such a hard time deciding. Some can be slouchy, oversized, fitted, tailored, long, short, menswear inspired, double-breasted, baggy, and much more. After months of searching, I came across this double breasted trench coat. I went for it simply because I had nothing like it in my closet. When shopping for clothes, especially outerwear, I try to push myself to try new styles. Otherwise, I end up wearing the same down jacket over and over again, and what’s the fun in that. Another thing I like to keep in mind is whether the piece has enough room for a sweater underneath. I don’t sacrifice my warmth for anything.
To no surprise, camel coats are reminiscent of the 1970s and 1980s. This ever-classic and modern coat have been worn for decades. The best thing about it is that it doubles as a statement piece. Camel is a rich color that stands out in any crowd, yet it still is a subtle look. A combination between the rise of the neutral trend and the existence of normcore, camel coats have become the “it” piece of the season. Its one of those things that go with everything, not to mention it looks good on everybody! As long as you find the perfect fit, consider yourself golden.
