While the temperatures are still hot this is an ideal time to pair a vintage rock band t-shirt with a pair cut-offs and call it a day. Rock band t-shirts have always been a thing to seek out and now more than ever they are being worn by street style stars. Probably because everyone is really into this whole festival wear trend. Plus fashion has always had a strong connection to music and wearing a t-shirt from your favorite band is one way to express that through personal style. Which is why I was bubbling with excitement when I found this Journey concert t-shirt vintage shopping in Boston last month.
My long appreciation for Journey is true, but have you ever wondered how many people wear t-shirts from rock bands they have never heard of? I don’t really understand the logic and personally, don’t like to wear a t-shirt from a band I haven’t listened to. However, there are times when you just can’t pass up a good tee and not being a long-time fan shouldn’t stop you from wearing it. Just remember the t-shirt is a form of promotion so use this a learning opportunity to listen to an album or two. I believe that new music fans should always be welcomed!
So now that I have hopefully inspired you to find your own band t-shirt, the next thing you need to do is customize it with scissors. There is nothing more fun than finding an item of clothing and making it your own. Here I cut off the sleeves to make my shirt into a tank. And if you are buying the shirt new, I recommend cutting out a few holes in certain parts to give it that vintage feel. When you can walk into just about any shop or vintage store to find one, there is no reason you shouldn’t add a little fan-girliness to your next casual look!
